The Foolish, Timid Rabbit by Ellen C. Babbitt

  • rabbit sitting under palm tree, sleeping
  • wakes up and wonders what would happen if earth suddenly broke apart
  • suddenly, a coconut falls from the tree, and timid rabbit thinks the earth is breaking all up
  • he runs and yells, attracting the attention of another rabbit
  • the other rabbit asks him why he's running, and he tells him the earth is breaking all up and needs to run, too!
  • second rabbit runs, and tells another rabbit, who tells another rabbit, until there's a lot of rabbits running
  • they tell deer, who tells fox, who tells elephant, and suddenly there's a big heard of animals running and panicking because they think the earth is breaking all up
  • Lion, King of the Beasts, roars three times and tells the herd to stop. He asks them why they're running and scared
  • they tell him the earth is breaking all up
  • Lion asks who saw it
  • Elephant says Fox told him, and Fox says Deer told him, and Deer says a rabbit told him, and they finally narrow it down to the first rabbit
  • Lion tells Rabbit to show him where the earth was breaking all up from
  • Rabbit shows him, and Lion sees the coconut
  • he tells him he is foolish for starting such a commotion
  • if it weren't for Lion, they might all still be running

            There once was a kingdom of monkeys that lived deep within the jungle. This was The Kingdom of Vihren, where monkeys from all over the planet traveled to behold the magnificent land. The King of Virhen was a noble monkey named Jakook.                          One day, Jakook decided he would offer a test of strength for monkeys from all over the world to come try, in order to find a suitor for his monkey daughter, Sina.
